A stormy night did not stop The Suffers fans from packing into the Rock & Roll Hotel to see the band on Thursday. The Suffers, describing themselves as Gulf Coast soul, brought along a modern, energetic twist on soul, ska and jazz along to deliver the best to a dedicated crowd.

The lights went out signaling the start of the show and everyone cheered for a few seconds then went silent. The distant hum of Angel Olsen’s first single off the new album, MY WOMAN, could barely be made out through the speakers. The chilling scene lasted a minute or two then Olsen and the gray suit-clad band ran out.

JEFF The Brotherhood, a psychedelic rock duo based out of Nashville, has released so many albums in past decade-and-a-half that it is hard to keep count. The band, made up of brothers Jake and Jamin Orrall, also run a record label together called Infinity Cat Recordings, signing friends like Daddy Issues and Diarrhea Planet.
