Genesis Owusu is coming to DC this Friday, April 8th. His bold blend of underground Australian rap, bombastic funk, and gentle folk sounds are phenomenal. Owusu’s shining debut record, Smiling with No Teeth, reached the ARIA albums’ top 30 chart and garnered widespread critical acclaim. The record is fluid but unique, full of distinct highlights like the noise rock breakdowns on “On the Move!” and the beautiful falsetto vocals on “Gold Chains“. Owusu is a master of combining and twisting his influences so the show is sure to be an eclectic mix of swagger and ballads.
