Zack Fox

You might have heard the name Zack Fox through a song called “Jesus Is The One (I Got Depression)” – yes, that’s the title. Once part of Awful Records (ATL), comedian Zack Fox has carved his way into the music scene with his humorous personality. Fox posted on his Instagram his inspirations for his recently-dropped freshman album: Atlanta, Memphis, 90s Wrestling, the last Mr. Bigg, the feeling of brutal monotony in rural/suburban America, and more. While one may say that Zack Fox is an acquired taste for comedy fans, the artist reaches beyond that on his album.

Even getting Alchemist to produce one of his songs, Fox surprises his fans with his artistic versatility and technicality. Referring to F&S legends like Anita Baker, Marvin Gaye, and B.B. King in his songs, Fox shows appreciation for the generation that came before him through his witty lyrics. His appreciation is displayed through some of his beat choices as well; “Marinate” is a soulful melodic trap beat that brings you back to east Atlanta. In this song, Fox humorously unpacks what it’s like to be broke in Atlanta, as he himself went through that phase.

Fox has proven that he is multifaceted through indulging in illustration, stand up comedy, and rap. What is even more impressive is that he is doing all of this for fun, which he reveals in an interview with Complex. Last year, Fox had 3 songs to his name – it’s only a matter of time before he’ll surprise again with his art.
