PRVIEW COIN @ 9:30 Club, 02/10

BY STEFANIA TUTRA// Nashville based indie rockers COIN are currently on their second tour promoting their 2017 album, How Will You Know If You Never Try. Last May, COIN brought their energetic and infectious sound to a sold out show at D.C.’s U Street Music Hall, and this Saturday, February 10th, they return to the District to headline the famous 9:30 Club.

COIN consists of four members whom were all students at Belmont University: Chase Lawrence (vocals), Ryan Winnen (drums), Joe Memmel (lead guitar), and Zachary Dyke (bass guitar). The band was originally formed in 2012, but did not gain mainstream attention until early 2015 when they released their lead single “Run”. Because of their catchy, upbeat, indie pop sound, they were regarded by Billboard as “new wave crash-course survivors” and “destined to “break the Nashville mold.”

HWYKIYNT is a classic summer soundtrack, from dreamy tracks such as “Heart Eyes” and “Miranda Beach” to dance anthems such as “I Don’t Wanna Dance” (despite the song title, it makes you want to dance) and “Talk Too Much”. Their sophomore album does not vary greatly from the carefree indie pop sound that characterized their debut album, COIN (2015).

I have previously been to two COIN concerts and was hooked the second they hit the stage. They deliver a performance full of charisma and enthusiasm you do not want to miss. To see for yourself, buy tickets here.
