BY VICTORIA MIDDLETON// Former Vice President Joe Biden will be visiting The Anthem on Tuesday, February 6th on his extended American Promise Tour.
Just one year out of office, Biden intends to engage with audiences about the current political climate as well as pinnacle moments in his own political career and personal life. Those who join Vice President Biden at The Anthem will also receive copies of his New York Times Bestselling memoir Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship, and Purpose.
Long before becoming Vice President of the United States, Biden was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania in 1942. He lived there until age ten, when he moved cross state borders into Delaware. Much of Biden’s political career would take place in the first state, as he served as a Delaware Senator from 1973 to 2009.
Biden has survived several tragedies, of which he speaks publicly. Mere weeks after being elected senator in 1972, Biden’s first wife, Neilia Biden, and their three young children went Christmas shopping and collided with a tractor-trailer. While Biden’s sons, Beau and Hunter, survived, his wife and their daughter Naomi did not.
Biden married his second wife, Jill, in 1977. However, tragedy struck again in 2015, when is son Beau died of brain cancer. Beau Biden had previously served as Delaware Attorney General as well as Army Judge Advocate in Iraq. The Promise Tour highlights Biden’s struggle with the recent loss of his son as well as new wisdom that comes with loss.
