Jack Garratt is the modern one-man band.

On stage, Garratt holds drum stick in his right hand, plays piano with the left, and hangs a guitar off his shoulder producing a smooth R&B-esque, electro-pop rhythm. Garratt’s songs start off with a simple, catchy melody which he abruptly discords to parallel his lyrical battle with love. His instrumental talent is unlike any other multifaceted artist, where Garratt’s live performances are more dimensional and emotional than studio versions.

His debut album, Phase, released this past February reached the top of charts globally. He is a more mainstream artist along the likes of James Blake, Jai Paul, and Chet Faker.

Do yourself a favor; take a well-needed break from studying for midterms and go see the British singer-songwriter at 9:30 Club this Tuesday. Doors open at 7 P.M. with a performance by the electronic jazz, Brooklyn-duo Basstracks.
