PREVIEW: Preservation Hall Jazz Band @ 9:30

My trip to New Orleans in 2012 was a whirlwind one – I was trying to decide if Tulane University was right for me. I remember most of that trip vividly, from the sculpture garden to the swamp tours but perhaps the most vivid memory came from an earful of Preservation Hall Jazz Band I heard as I passed by the packed Preservation Hall.

For whatever reason, and to my deep regret, we didn’t go in. However in May of 2015 I attended Shaky Knees Music Festival in Atlanta and was able to see them open for Real Estate.

While that show was phenomenal, and finally scratched the itch that I’d picked up in that earful years prior, I am excited for this show because I’ve always wanted to see them in a closed venue. In the Lincoln Theater their various instruments, rich origin, and beautiful sound will kept inside the walls, creating an undoubtedly vivid and engrossing soundscape. Probably a deep and unfulfilled craving for beignets will follow.
