On September 19th indie rock band Okkervil River comes to the 9:30 Club, fresh off the release of their eighth full-length, Away.

The band has gained and lost several members since it’s formation in 1998, but frontman Will Sheff continues to deliver an enjoyable, if mercurial, performance. With Away, Sheff allows himself to drift away from the rock sound that has classified the group, digging into more earnestly personal lyrics along the way.

Look forward to this show, where Sheff will have the opportunity to display both the old and the new sound of Okkervil River when selecting tracks from the band’s musical archive.

Landlady, a band whose sound escapes classification by genre but is undeniably fun, will open the show. The main project of Adam Shatz, whose other musical endeavors include solo work and collaborations with artists such as Those Darlins, Landlady is best known by their 2014 LP Upright Behavior.
