Molehill performs at The Velvet Lounge this coming Saturday alongside bands Clone of Clones and The Dirty Jacks in what is sure to be an exciting night of thrashtastic music. And we’re very excited for it.

The Chicago rockers have been on the scene for a while now, but only within recent years have garnered critical acclaim for their self described “poptastic space rock.” The band made it to the final round of the Global Battle of the Bands ‘Hard Rock Rising’ Competition in 2012, and has toured extensively in the Midwest and East Coast since 2009.

The band capitalizes on a classic hard rock sound but keeps things interesting by utilizing the soft, more melancholy quality of a piano in their recordings. The result is a mixture of Pearl Jam riffs and Muse-like dramatics, with a strong emphasis on emotional lyrics and songwriting on the part of frontman Peter Manhart.

Their driving, powerful sound is sure to ignite The Velvet Lounge in an exciting night of rock this Saturday. WRGW will certainly be on the ground that night, rocking and wilding out to what is sure to be an electric show you won’t want to miss.
