Shows We're Stoked For: Tonight – NO @ DC9

When NO lead singer Bradley Carter, a New Zealand native, crossed paths with American bassist Sean Stenz, it was a match made in brooding heaven. Comparable to The National and White Lies, the echoey baritone vocals and dark-edged guitar make for an interesting ride.

Their debut album, El Prado, came out only this February, and has had overwhelming positive critical reception, being called “emotionally powerful” by KCRW and “a dazzling sort of doom” by NME. El Prado is a reflection on loneliness in a world where technology and social media keep everyone constantly connected. The album is the feeling of being alone in a crowded room. This concept has never been so fully expanded as it is on El Prado.

Carter gives his thoughts about the music-making process and El Prado in an interview with WRGW, which you can hear below. Check out his insights about cell phone usage,  self-discovery and more!

That being said, NO’s show at DC9 tonight is one that you don’t want to miss. You can buy tickets for $10 here.

For such a small investment, you’ll be one of the people that could say, “I saw NO before they were big!” You go, you hipster, you go.
