“It’s like this demand to be seen the way you want to be seen.” – Merrill Garbus
I appreciate musicians hooking up with artistic directors and such, trying to create something just, idk … extra-ordinary, but sometimes they can be a bit much. Too often I find myself sooo caught up in trying to decipher music videos and the intent of the message (or lack there of). So every now and then I fall deeper in love with an artist, who puts out a video that clearly is a mirror image of the artist them self. tUnE-yArDs’ “Bizness” is just that! Everything, from the kids, to the facepaint & feathers, and down to the choreography tells me about the inventive, quirky and colorful, Merill Garbus.

Known for her lo-fi sound and DIY production (hear 2009’s BiRd-BrAiNs), the tUnE-yArDs aesthetic is all there, with the cleaner production and all. “Bizness” and the soon to be released w h o k i l l is just another example of this artist’s exuberant persona.
